William Rechnitzer Obituary

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, William (Bill) Lee Rechnitzer passed away exactly 1 month after his 71st birthday.

Bill was born on September 11, 1949 in Cleveland, OH and taken to the loving home of adopted parents Leo and Agnes Rechnitzer of Euclid. He graduated from Euclid High School in 1967. Bill served in the Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer. He was very fond of Cadillacs and Motorcycles. As a skilled machinist, Bill proudly produced parts that can be found on aircraft, nuclear weapons, and the Voyager Spacecraft. He had an independent spirit, an analytical mind, and a witty and dry sense of humor, all of which were passed on to his children. It is well known that Bill was an excellent cook and his children rave about his Hatch Green Chile Stew and Carne Adovada. He was a strong believer in individual liberty and the right to protect and defend it.

Bill longed to find his birth parents for most of his life and spent his last few years diligently searching for them. He found great joy and comfort when he successfully found his birth father, Richard Pecha, who once held Bill as an infant and wanted to keep and care for him. Sadly, after the day Richard held him, they would not meet again in this world. May they enjoy their reunion in the company of the Lord. However, Bill got to know Frances Pecha (wife of Richard) and half-siblings Deborah, Anthony, and Charles of Cleveland. They stated that Bill’s resemblance to Richard was uncanny, and that they both shared a fondness of Cadillacs. Bill was also able to build a relationship with maternal half-sibling Brad Allen Tidik.

Preceded in death by his adopted parents Leo and Agnes Rechnitzer of Euclid, biological father Richard Pecha of Cleveland, and grandson Ashton Rechnitzer, Bill was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 17 years (Colleen Taylor), 4 Children Bill (Jennifer) Rechnitzer Jr., Cheryl (Mike) Rechnitzer-Chaney, Donald (Lisa) Rechnitzer, Stephen (Shannon) Rechnitzer), 2 Step Children (Scott Taylor, Fallon (Kyle) Kraxberger ),12 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren.
