LaVerne Blaser Brown died peacefully on May 4, 2020, in the loving arms of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. LaVerne was born on November 2, 1921, to the late William Henry Blaser and Anna Eiben Blaser. At the age of 66, LaVerne married the love of her life, William Edward Brown, who survives her. LaVerne was the only sister of the late Phyllis Blaser Kopke and was an exceptionally attentive Auntie to Phyllis’ children: Elaine Kopke Gard, Jonathan Kopke, and Lois Kopke Koch. She was likewise delighted to become a grandmother and great-grandmother through William’s children: Mark Brown, Wayne Brown, and Denise Brown Strawderman. LaVerne was a lifelong Christian, a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, a longtime public health nurse and public health administrator for the city of Cleveland, and a nursing administrator at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights. LaVerne was a cat lover, seamstress, and square dancer. She was a seventy-year supporter of the Cleveland Christian Home and an avid volunteer into her 90s at her church and at the American Lung Association. A memorial service will be arranged when the family is able to gather. Gifts in memory of LaVerne may be sent to the Cleveland Christian Home, 4614 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, OH 44103.
