Maria Rivera Massas

After a protracted battle with cancer, Maria Rivera Massas passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on November 25, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio at age of 67. Maria leaves behind her husband Jose Rivera, Jessica Rivera (daughter) and Jose Rivera (son). Devoted daughter of Carmelo (Paulina) Massas and Secundina Soto(both deceased). Dear sibling of Hanzen, William (Lydia), Herbert, Herman (Mariaelena), Ludwig (Theresa), Werner (Carla) and cherished sister of Evelyn (Ali), Ruth (Frank) Canelo, Laura (Frank), Agnes, Marilynne (Luis), Margarethe (Elvin) Sanchez. Auntie of many nieces and nephews.  Maria was a devoted wife and mother. Maria enjoyed reading the Bible, doing puzzles and listening music. Maria always wore a smile to her face even during difficult times. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, she remained dedicated to her family and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months. The family would like to thank Darlene, Debra and Karina for their excellent work and loving care; the staff at Metro Hospital for their constant, attentive treatment; and the Gregory P. Godorhazy Funeral Home 4801 Memphis Ave. Cleveland, OH 44144, for making possible for the family to make the arrangements. Visiting hours are held at the Funeral Home from 10 am - 12 pm followed by Interment at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery at 1:00 pm

Maria was baptized on 3/15/1970 and she found great peace and fulfillment with her relationship with Jehovah God. She also found great joy and satisfaction in sharing the things she learned from the Bible with her children to the best of her ability. She did this faithfully up until her death. Our dear friend Maria, now takes her rest and awaits the time when “all those in the memorial tombs will hear Jesus voice and come out”. – John 5:28, 29.
